Parsons Pathways to Freedom Endowed Fund

Goal: $5,000.00

Specific Need

Parsons Pathways to Freedom is working to build a Veterans Memorial Wall near the Municipal Building in downtown Parsons.

Profile

With the goal of honoring our veterans and the memory of their sacrifices, a group of local citizens set out to create a new Veterans Memorial for Parsons. Articles of Incorporation were filed in 2020 and Parsons Pathways to Freedom was formed to begin officially pursuing that goal. Preliminary designs were developed with the assistance of the CAD class at Parsons High School and representatives of the group began meeting with the Parsons City Commission and City staff. After exploring several options, the north lawn of the Municipal Building was chosen as the site for the Veterans Memorial and design work on the memorial continued. When completed, the Veterans Memorial will include:

  • Iron colonnade - black with silver lettering
  • Central path and courtyard of mahogany granite pavers
  • Flags of military branches encircling American and POW flags
  • Granite pedestals with plaques dedicated to each branch of the armed service
  • Cast medallion of each military seal inset into the pavement at the beginning of each path and on the front of each granite pedestal
