Proud Animal Lovers Shelter (PALS) Endowment

Specific Need

This opportunity to make a donation to PALS that will be matched will increase our endowed fund and that will mean more income for us in the future.

Currently PALS operating budget is funded by donations, fundraisers, adoption fees, a subsidy from the city of Parsons to offset our water and trash, and a grant from the PACF.  Our funds pay for the expense of veterinary costs, utilities, supplies, payroll, insurance, taxes, license fees, auto expense, building maintenance and any other incurred expenses.

Mission

The Mission of PALS is to provide a safe, temporary shelter and care for homeless or unwanted animals (cats and dogs) while seeking responsible homes for them.

Profile

The Proud Animal Lovers Shelter (PALS) has operated a no-kill shelter for unwanted dogs and cats from the Labette County area since January 1, 2010.  During the first eighteen months our shelter operated with strictly volunteer labor.  In 2011 a full-time shelter manager was hired with funds obtained primarily through donations and other fund-raising activities.  In 2014, a weekend part-time supervisor was added and in 2015 another part-time weekend staff was added.  Volunteers continue to be critical to the day-to-day operations at the shelter as well as for community outreach and public education.
